Western Lectern Meeting Details

PLEASE NOTE: from the 1st April 2020 and continuing during 2023/24, Western Lectern is no longer holding meetings in person. Please contact Lynne or Greg Harris (9639 5509) for further information or if you would like to visit a Western Lectern club meeting and to confirm where and when the next meeting will take place.

Why do we continue to meet in Zoom-world? Our Zoom meetings were a response to Covid and its lockdowns. But, we found that members enjoyed being able to return from work, have a bite to eat and then join our meeting without having to travel to a venue (especially on very hot or very cold nights) and without having to get into a car to travel home afterwards. We are all about verbal communication and that happens when seated or standing in front of a computer screen or in person. For us, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, so we have remained meeting in Zoom-world. Also, being confident with Zoom meetings is a real advantage in today's business world and at Lectern we learn to feel very comfortable with virtual meetings. Our periodic in-person dinner meetings allow us to have the best of virtual and face-to-face Toastmasters' experiences.

DATE:

Western Lectern meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Note that during December & January, our meetings may be held on a different schedule. On the months with three Wednesdays, we may hold a dinner meeting on the 5th Wednesday evening, with a meal at the attendee's own cost.

TIME:

7:15 pm for a 7:30 pm start. Meetings end around 10:00 pm.

Meeting Dates during the 2024/25 Toastmasters Year

Our club meets twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. Due to Covid-19 and the desire to keep our members and visitors as safe as possible, we are continuing to meet in Zoom-world. Our members relish the opportunity to become confident and proficient in speaking to others. Please contact either Lynne or Greg Harris on 9639 5509 for more information about our meetings.

Meetings are held in Zoom-world (ie from your own comfy couch).

NB: The date of a dinner meeting is confirmed at the start of that month. A minimum of 8-10 members and guests are required.
